ACT of RANDOM KINDNESS
Yesterday we saw the movie Evan Almighty and it was fantastic. Arrive on the late side, if possible, as the previews are inappropriate. The movie is about God (played by Morgan Freeman) coming to Earth to tell Evan (The Office’s Steve Carell) to build an ark. Evan resists God’s instruction and tries to keep living life his own way. Early on in the movie, Evan is explaining the reasons he can’t build the ark because of all of his plans and God just laughs and laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed the picture of a loving God cracking up and delighting in the ways of man.
Although the theology in the movie isn’t as sound as Evan’s ark, there are several references to Genesis 6:14 and to God doing everything because He loves us. I even found myself wishing that God would choose me to do something important like building an ark, but to quote Evan in the movie "We have all been chosen". I was chosen before I was in my mother’s womb, to do something very important. I was chosen to build a solid ark, using Acts of Random Kindness. We were all chosen before time began, to change the world, one act of random kindness at a time.
Love and Prayers,
Audra
