On Purpose

Get outta the Car

Pict0001_2A few weeks ago we went to the Grand Canyon.  As a child I had been to the Grand Canyon, but I had never seen it.  In the late 70’s we drove from Colorado to the North Rim and parked.  I just sat inside the car, no desire whatsoever to get out.  My brother and sister seemed to feel the same way and sat there as well.  My mom told us to get out of the car, but we said that we had seen the Grand Canyon on the Brady Bunch and therefore didn’t need to.  We’d even watched the Brady’s ride mules to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, so we’d basically done it all.  Our weary mother finally gave up and we left sometime later.  Fast forward thirty years, and being that we have lived in AZ for 10 years, we thought it was high time to take our boys to see it.  Nothing from the Brady Bunch prepared me for the breath taking beauty of God’s amazing creation.  I stumbled around the south rim in awe, literally without words and trying not to break down and sob my head off.  A couple of hours later we came across this plaque outside a store and I felt so complete as the words from Psalm 104:24 captured my emotion: "O’ Lord, How manifold are thy works! In wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches."  Riches the Brady Bunch didn’t even come close to displaying.

Praying you’ll get out of the car,

Audra
