On Purpose

Sympathy Pains

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."  2 Corinthians 1:3-4   NIV

It all began with a deep aching pain in the top of my head.  My friend was 24 hours out of neurosurgery and although I hadn’t seen her, I knew right where it hurt.  Then I began to forget people.  I am having trouble remembering if I know them, where I know them from and am left clueless as to what their names are. I even forgot to pick up my own child after school.  I am claiming a condition called "sympathy overwhelm-ism".  Maybe you have heard of it?  Good for you if you remember that you have.  I can’t remember if it’s even a real condition.

I read today in Nelson’s Bible Commentary, that God doesn’t just comfort us so that we can feel better.  He gives us the gift of comfort so that we are equipped to turn around and give it to other’s in need.  There are many, many people on this Earth, that have been comforted much, because they have recently given much away.

I am grateful.

Praying you’ll remember,

Audra
