Holiday Eve
For most people, today is Halloween. I love this day, but not for the traditional reasons. After tonight, not a creature will be stirring, not even a mouse, and hopefully not even a scorpion.
The main reason I love October 31 is that it is the eve of the Holiday season. November 1 kicks off two months of the most wonderful time of the year. I have begun preparing by drinking eggnog last night, washing my dishes with Holiday Dawn dish soap, AND yesterday, I started listening to Christmas music at the gym. It did wonders for me! I ran an extra 20 minutes with Mercy Me’s amazing Christmas album blasting from my ipod.
Some of you might not be ready for this, but I believe it’s never to early to be deeply grateful and to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I’m trying to make it more of a lifestyle than a season. And if a little eggnog and some great music get thrown in, well then that’s just gravy.
I don’t even have to squint to see Jesus coming toward us and I love that He doesn’t come in costume. "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’ " – John 1:29
Amen. Audra
I hear you sister! Thank you for making me think ahead. We usually start the advent readings 4 weeks before, but I’m glad you made me think ahead.
We’re hearing Sheri my sister-in-law speak next week here in CA on Christmas. And in the past I have planned our Home for Christmas with Donna Otto, the first week of November. And I’m not this year and so sad! I am looking forward to coming home and sipping cider. Maybe we could do it together!! See you in a few! Blessings.
