On Purpose

24

No, I haven’t lost track of how many days there are until Christmas.  This post is about the TV show, 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland.  This summer my husband and I watched the first five season’s of 24.  Yes, five seasons.  That’s 120 episodes over a two month period.  Sometimes we would watch four episodes in one night and stay up way past what our bodies could handle. I felt like we were in college again! It was always worth it the next day, as this time we didn’t have any classes to attend or finals to study for.

We couldn’t wait for season six to be released.  Christmas came early for my husband when it happened last week.  Our plan was to watch all of season six and then be caught up to the current year, and enjoy season seven.  Then the writer’s strike happened.  24 stopped all production and canceled the entire current season.  (Something about Kiefer having to do his jail time….)

We are now beginning episode 7 of 24 episodes.  We have to cherish each precious moment with our  family and friends on 24. We had the best laid plans and God stepped in with something different.  Maybe he wants us to go to bed earlier, maybe He’s saving the best surprise of all for next year, or maybe he wants my husband and I to stop referring to Jack Bauer as a real person.  I hope it’s still okay with God, if I give my husband the "Counter Terrorist Unit" jacket I got him for Christmas.

Relationship thought #19 Relinquish-  Let God do what he does best and go with his plans.  I think the most exciting part of the writer’s strike, is that God has something way better planned, something so much bigger than I could ever dream up.

Some of you probably know what’s coming….one of my very favorite verses……..

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…."   Jeremiah 29:11

Amen,

Audra
