On Purpose

He will not grow tired or weary

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  (NIV) Isaiah 40:29-31

Relationship thought #14 –Rest  Today I am so tired that I can barely write this.  Lots of rain, lots of activity and a slight bug going around our house are all making me feel a little sluggish.  When I was younger, I would go and go until God would stop me.  He had to really get my attention with the big guns like pneumonia, mono and at one point, potential liver failure.   Once I became extremely ill, then I would finally slow down for a short period of time.

I have come to understand that something "big" doesn’t have to happen for me to allow myself to rest.  Obviously I am still learning though, as I felt the need to justify above, why I am so tired.  God has planned for us to grow weary, especially when we are going our own way, on our own strength.  We are to depend on him for all of our needs, including that of sleep, and he doesn’t require a single reason why we might need to rest in him.  He just opens his arms and waits.  Tonight, I am running to the one that never needs rest, my God who never grows weary.  I pray all of my relationships will benefit tomorrow, when I am refreshed by the love of God.

Amen,

Audra
