On Purpose

Class of 1988

I’m in Colorado for my 20th High School Reunion.  I wish I could post pictures, but I’m not on my computer.

We have had so much fun and the changes in some people have been surprising. Today there was a picnic and we got to meet everyone’s kids.  There were beautiful children there and some great lookin significant other’s too!

It’s great to be out of the 109 degree heat. I was literally cold last night, as we had an extended happy hour on the deck of our local bar.  I also can’t breathe at this altitude, something about it is so embarrassing.  I’ll come up from the basement at my mom’s house and I have to stop, lean over and put my hands on my knees, gasping for breath.  Maybe it’s not quite that bad, but it takes me about 30 seconds to get my breath and be able to have a full conversation.

Why is it embarrassing that I live at sea level and am not used to the altitude?  No idea….just the implication that I’m so out of shape is almost funny to me.  Almost.

What’s really embarrassing is that a beautiful woman and I had on the exact same shirt from White House Black Market at the happy hour last night.  This wasn’t a huge gathering mind you, we had a small graduating class of 99 people and about half showed up. She and I just made the best of it….what else could we do.  It sure brought back the memories of Prom’s, graduations and dances, where two girls were wearing the same thing. So actually I think it was more of a great catalyst than an embarrassment.

  1. Audra,
It sounds like fun! All except the not breathing part, anyway. 🙂 My 20th reunion was last August, but I couldn’t go because we were in school (hard to justify finding a substitute just to go play with people I wasn’t that sure I wanted to see…). Anyway, hope the ball games went well this week and that your reunion wraps up great!

  2. We had our 20 year last year and I did not go. I actually see a lot of my class mates since I still live in the area. Good for you for going!

  3. Oh, girl, my reunion is next year. Hubby graduated a year ahead of me from the same school. It was such a small, private school that the reunion (next June) will be for the entire 80’s decade.
Isn’t it funny that now, as grown-up’s, when someone else has the same taste in clothing it’s flattering?
Hope you have a great time!!

  4. I will be going to my 25th high school reunion this Saturday and I am soooo looking forward to it. I loved high school and can’t wait to catch up with everyone. I went to a very small school – 26 in my class – so we were all very close. We are combining classes for the reunion or there might only be 5 of us showing up!

  5. Hope you had a good time! My 10 year
is in two years and I can’t wait–well maybe I can wait. I had a love/hate relationship with my classmates, but I’m interested to see what everyone is up to.
I can’t believe that you are from CO–so am I. I grew up in Aurora and went to college in Fort Collins. My family still lives there and I miss all the open space. Going from LA to there is quite a shock!
