On Purpose

No Fall, Just Pumpkin

IStock_000003951720XSmall

Pumpkin is one of my favorite times of year.

When you live in AZ, there is no fall.

Our seasons are:

  • Hot
  • Hotter-Than-You- Know-Where
  • Pumpkin
  •  Sweater Day

 Then Hot starts again.

So when the Pumpkin Lattes come out at Starbucks, it's a symbol to me. A sign that Hot will be gone at night for awhile.

Here are some of my favorite pumpkin things to cheer you:

Pumpkin Pie Blizzard from Dairy Queen (XXL)

Pumpkin Pie from Village Inn (not a slice, the whole pie)

Pumpkin Smash Smoothie from Jamba Juice (which I cannot have anymore because they use soymilk)

Pumpkin Pie Spice in an Iced Chai Tea Latte

Pumpkin Cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory

and I could go on and on.

Basically I've never met a pumpkin that I didn't love.

Stay tuned, on Sweater Day, it's all things eggnog!

So funny. Wish I could’ve gottenyou a pumpkin blizzard that day in Oceanside at DQ. But I thought of you! I love pumpkin seeds even and I make a yummy pumpkin pudding in the crockpot and it smell good all day and I don’t have to light my pumpkin spice candle then!
But I have to differ on our weather. I remember last year NEVER wearing a SWEATER even once. Well, I mean a real sweater, the kind made to keep you warm. I always wear some kind of cover up for flabby arms!
    Have a great MID-WEEK day!
    Love ya

  3. Can you send recipe for Pumpkin pudding when you get a chance?
I know what you mean about the sweater thing, I don’t remember wearing one last year either, but I figured there was probably at least one day where I was sweating through in a sweater, just because I had to wear one at least once! : )
Heading to Vegas tomorrow, planning on wearing some warm clothes this weekend!

  4. That’s actually pretty funny! I take for granted that in Western NY, you can’t swing a dead cat but you hit a pumpkin patch!
I love the color of pumpkins, and most anything pumpkin flavored. Pumpkin cookies & muffins are a special treat, with cream cheese frosting.
    Pumpkin candles are nice, too.
    🙂

  5. We’re going to make pumpkin bread (we call it jack-o-bread) from our jack-o-lanterns. I should re-post the recipe!
PinkGirl is thrilled that Boston Market is stocking pumpkin pies again! She would probably LOVE the pumpkin blizzard! Thanks for the heads up!
p.s. SO glad your son is doing better!

  6. that is so funny.
we have relatives in AZ, so I can relate.
When they come here to Oklahoma (a pretty sizzling place itself in the summers), they wear sweaters, even in the Oklahoma heat. No joke. In my older age, I have begun to like Pumpkin dishes. My favorite are the pumpkin rolls I posted on my blog last winter. So yummy!

  7. That is so funny Annie! Sweaters in the heat. I cannot wait to check out your recipe- thanks for sharing!

  8. Sweater Day? When is that? LOL You must school me on this AZ stuff so I can impress another friend of mine who lives in AZ. Hmmm, might need to make a visit out there. Just not when its “Hotter-Than-You- Know-Where” ROFL
